About the Author
Dr.-Ing. E. h. Richard van Basshuysen war bei Audi Entwicklungsleiter der Fahrzeug-Komfortklasse und verantwortlich für die Aggregateentwicklung aller Fahrzeuge. Er ist heute Herausgeber der ATZ und MTZ. Ihm wurde der hochdotierte Ernst-Blickle-Preis 2000 und die Benz-Daimler-Maybach-Ehrenmedaille 2001 des VDI für die Serieneinführung des Pkw-Dieselmotors mit Direkteinspritzung und für seine Verdienste um die Fahrzeugtechnik verliehen.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Fred Schäfer, früher Leiter Motorenkonstruktion bei Audi, lehrt heute an der FH Südwestfalen das Gebiet Kraft- und Arbeitsmaschinen.
